BIRTH REGISTRATION OF A NEW-BORN BABY WITH THE EMBASSY WITHIN ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF BIRTH AND ISSUE OF PASSPORT

The child must be registered with the Consular Section of the Embassy within six months of birth. At least one parent with passports of both parents has to be physically present at the Embassy while applying for an Indian passport for a newborn child. In case of delay in Birth registration within one year applicant may contact Embassy.

Steps to be followed:

  • Step 1:

Visit https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/Home2.aspx?formcode=09  Fill in the online application form. Make sure to upload signatures of both the parents while filling the online application. Take a printout of the online application. Both the parents are required to sign the second page of the printed application form.

  • Step 2:

 Visit  https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/ . Apply for a fresh passport for the newborn. Take a printout of the application form. Put the thumb impression of the child in dark ink (on the first page below the photograph). Please note that the thumb impression must be clearly visible and within the designated box. The last page of the application form should be signed by the parent(s).

  • Step 3:
    • At least one parent has to visit the Embassy on any working day between 9 .30AM -12 PM with the following documents:
    • Printed copy of the duly filled in application form of STEP 1 above
    • Printed copy of the duly filled in application form of STEP 2 above
    • Printed copy of the duly filled in and signed by both the parents of Annexure D
    • Printed copy of the fee transfer receipt
    • Self-attested copies of the passport of both the parents
    • Self-attested copies of residence permits of both the parents
    • Three colour photographs of 2 inches x 2 inches (51mmX51mm) of the applicant/child. Detailed Photo specifications can be checked [here](#)
    • Self-attested copy of the Extract from the local government office. If the extract is not available, a copy of the Birth Certificate issued to the child by the hospital may be submitted.
    • Self-attested copy of proof of address in India. Passport copy parents Passports, Voter id card/Aadhaar card/Driving license/Electricity bill, etc. may be submitted.
    • Self-attested copy of the marriage certificate duly apostilled.
    • Fees receipts

 The required fee (Euro 38 for Passport and Euro 27 for Birth Certificate. may be transferred to the following bank account of the Indian Embassy. All fees paid for this service are non-refundable

  • Please make separate payments for Consular Fees and Consular Surcharge/ICWF using the following bank details and provide two separate receipts; one for Consular Fees and another for Consular Surcharge/ICWF.

  • Note:

Applicants are advised to follow the above-mentioned steps and submit the application along with all the relevant documents. Incomplete applications due to any missing relevant documents cannot be processed, and it can take more than the usual processing time.
